Mount Vernon electrician: City is allowing exposed wires to go unfixed in park

A Mount Vernon electrician is calling out the city for allowing exposed wires to go unfixed in Hartley Park.
Dominque Donny says several light poles and trees house wiring that is not properly secured and is putting people and pets in potential danger.
The city has put a temporary fix on the problem but Donny, a professional electrician, says rubber and tape around the wiring is not a solution. He says parks in the community need to be taken care of.
Donny, who has nearly 20 years of experience as an electrician, took News 12 for a walk around the park to show how dangerous it is.
"These wires are No. 10 AWG,” says Donny. AWG stands for American Wire Gauge. He says those specific wires carry a voltage or amperage of 30.
"It only takes 10 milliamps to cause ventricular fibrillation and kill a person,” he says.

Donny says those exposed wires are everywhere.
