Sidewalks in Mott Haven are apparently not just for walking, with some residents claiming several are being used to park cars.
Resident Evelyn Blanco says cars can be seen parked on sidewalks, causing safety issues for pedestrians.

"If you have a stroller or there is someone doing groceries or you have children you have to walk into the street just to get out of the cars way," says Blanco.

However, some people say that, while they understand the concern, there is nowhere else to park.
News 12 cameras found stretches of cars parked on the sidewalk near Cyprus Avenue and 132 Street. Despite being parked on the sidewalk, none of the cars had tickets on their windshields.

"I am short so a lot of cars cannot see me going into the road, so it makes it very dangerous to cross,” says Blanco.

Although there are plenty of residential apartments, the surrounding area is largely industrial. Despite this, people walk and ride their bikes here, facing heavy amounts of traffic.

Some say walking on the sidewalks rather than the street is a matter of public safety.
News 12 reached out to police about parking enforcement in the area and is awaiting a response.
