Police: Body found wrapped in blanket in University Heights

Posted: Updated:

Police say a body was discovered unresponsive and wrapped in a blanket in University Heights Friday night.

The body was found just before midnight near West 183rd Street and Sedgwick Avenue.

Police have confirmed that the victim was a woman. They say when EMS arrived they determined that the woman was dead.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.

Neighbors in the area say illegal dumping has been a problem for quite some time. Sanitation crews were at the scene Saturday morning cleaning up the area and removing debris and electronics. News 12 reached out to the Department of Sanitation, which said it is looking into the complaints.
