Posted: Updated:

Police say a man was pistol whipped during an attempted robbery last month.

Police say it happened back on Oct. 12 at around 5:40 p.m. when a 48-year-old man was followed by an unidentified man into a residential building in the vicinity of Beach Avenue and Guion Place.

They say the unidentified man proceeded to display a black firearm and demanded the victim's chain. When the victim struggled, police say the man struck the victim in the head with the firearm.

The unidentified man fled in unknown direction, according to police. They say the victim sustained lacerations to the head and was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi.
