Caught on Camera: Police take down man after he enters Bronx precinct with a knife

Police took down a knife-wielding man on Monday after he entered a precinct in the Bronx.
The takedown was all caught on camera. Police say the 49-year-old held the knife while threatening to kill himself.
Sgt. Michael Thomas said he used his stun gun and brought the man to the ground before any harm could be done. Police say he was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Just six months ago, they say a similar incident was also caught on camera at the same station. Police say a 26-year-old man entered the precinct with a mask and two knives.
Police say their NYPD training played a crucial role in both cases.
Some residents told News 12 there needs to be more focus placed on mental health. "We are just treating them like they are in the way, and we are walking around them, what can we do?," said Mott Haven resident Corrinne Whitingham.
Police tell News 12 there are no charges against the man who brought the knife into the precinct.
