A concerned Allerton resident says speeding on his street is putting school children nearby in danger, and he's calling for action before a tragedy strikes.

Eddy Soto has lived on Stedman Place by Allerton for over two decades. He says while the area is quiet in the morning, it can be chaotic during school dismissal and rush hour.

He says cars speed down the hill headed toward Allerton Avenue and up the hill as they turn off of Allerton Avenue, disregarding the 20 mph speed limit. The intersection is right across from Allerton Playground in P.S. 121X- and Soto says kids and parents are in danger on a daily basis.

Over the summer, the city announced that more speed cameras would be coming to school zones. Soto says he hopes his neighborhood is considered, or that at the very least, a speed bump is installed.

He says he plans to file a request with the Department of Transportation.
