Officials advise residents to take precautions against dangerous windchill

Temperatures have dropped across the city, and officials are telling residents to bundle up.
The NYPD says it is important to wear layers and keep fingertips and earlobes covered as windchill can harm or irritate the skin.
They also say if clothing gets wet to remove it to avoid frostbite. Common signs of frostbite are gray, white or yellow skin discoloration and numbness.
News 12's Michelle Ross and Tony Chau have the latest on how Bronx and Brooklyn commuters are handling the cold weather on Friday.

Residents are also advised to keep an eye on heating equipment as a safety precaution.
