Police release image of suspect wanted for shooting Allerton juice bar owner

ALLERTON -

Police have released an image of the suspect involved in shooting a store owner in Allerton last week.

The shooting happened last Wednesday when police say a 25-year-old man walked into a juice bar, approached the store owner, pulled out a gun on him and demanded money.

Police say the store owner fought back, attempting to wrestle the gun away from the alleged suspect. That's when the store owner, whose name is Abdu, was shot in the torso.

The gunshots were loud enough to be heard by a friend nearby who, according to police, ran into the juice bar and wrestled the suspect away from his gun, and the suspect took off. Abdu was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to his torso. He's expected to be OK.

News 12 was able to speak to some of the juice bar owner’s friends last week when the incident happened. They say he's a good family man and not someone you would ever expect to be in the kind of situation he was in.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
