A canister explosion at a gas station left those at the pump covered in a strange white powdery substance.
It happened at the Phillips 66 gas station off of Story Avenue in Soundview Thursday.
The canister, which exploded for unknown reasons, left those in the area covered in dust.
It was located above the gas pump and was filled with a dry chemical fire suppressant. While News 12 is told it isn't toxic, people should avoid the area.
According to fire press, the explosion was a false alarm.
While many were shocked and shaken up, no one was injured.
