Planned Bronx bus changes draw ire from Riverdale residents

The MTA released its final plan for the Bronx Bus Network Redesign last month, and with cuts to express buses in Riverdale, residents are feeling frustrated.
In the northern-most neighborhood in New York City's northern-most borough, getting to midtown or downtown Manhattan can take awhile. That's why Riverdale residents are frustrated about the planned changes that they say don't benefit them.
Overall, there are 12 express buses that travel between the Bronx and Manhattan. Some will see routes changed, stops removed and service cut early. But on the other hand, other express buses in the borough will see stops added and service extended.
For example, the BxM2, which goes from 34th Street, will stop service at 3 p.m. on weekdays, but the BxM4 will start running earlier at 5:30 a.m. on weekdays.
There will also be a new route, the BxM5, replacing the northern section of the existing BxM4 service.
The new changes are expected to be implemented in the upcoming summer.
