For 15 years, a Bronx activist who has appeared on News 12's airwaves many times has shed light on issues in the borough. He has no plans of stopping anytime soon.

Sidney Flores doesn't wear a badge, nor does he have an official title. He's just a regular, everyday Bronx resident.

"To be a New Yorker and complain about quality of life issues and not be part of the solution just doesn't make sense to me," says Flores. "I had to get involved and make change in your community."

Since 2004, Flores has made it his mission to make changes in his community. He started by simply sweeping the streets and picking up garbage.

His tasks quickly grew in scope -- he turned Morris Mesa Park around so kids could play in it. He got the attention of officials to fix potholes, broken sidewalks and leaning trees. His work gained him plenty of recognition through the years.

"It feels good to give. God gave me sight and I have to use it," says Flores. "If he is giving me sight to actually see dangling lights over a bridge that no one else has seen, that is some kind of calling there for me."
