The death of a 6-year-old boy who collapsed at his elementary school in June has been ruled a homicide.
Tyzavier Martin collapsed in the lunch line at PS 5 Port Morris in June. His mother had allegedly sliced his throat two months before his death.
The medical examiner says the wound was a complicating factor in his death, which was caused by asphyxia from a benign tumor constructing Martin's airway.
Shanice Martin, 24, turned herself in on April 27 and confessed to slashing Tyzavier Martin and his 2-year-old sister on a Bronx sidewalk.
Shanice Martin remains in jail on assault charges.
