NYPD, DOT join hit-and-run survivor to host holiday event for seniors shaken by accidents

The NYPD and the Department of Transportation joined Lisbeth Arce, a hit-and-run survivor, to host a holiday event for senior citizens who may be shaken up by accidents that have taken place in the borough.
News 12 first met Arce in September 2019 when she was recovering from a hit-and-run accident. The accident happened on Pittman Avenue, which is the exact same street Arce's mother was fatally struck on two years earlier.
The incident happened near the Rain Senior Center, and Arce joined the NYPD and the Department of Transportation at that same location for a holiday event for senior citizens Tuesday.
Arce is thankful she is alive and able to be at the event after having seven surgeries to reconstruct her leg.
While there was fun, prizes and dancing, the event also encouraged and enforced a message of safety-first from the NYPD and DOT.
Arce believes citizens need to protect the most vulnerable people of our community, which she says are seniors and children.
