Police say a man tried to lure a teenage girl into his car in Franklin Square using a $100 bill.
The 14-year-old girl, who News 12 is not identifying, says she was walking to her bus stop on Oaks Drive and Oaks Place in Franklin Square when a man in a black Toyota pulled up next to her with the money in his hand.
She told News 12 that he said, “I'll give you $100 if you have sex with me."
That’s when she started to run.
"I was scared. I was shaking," she says.
Detective Lt. Richard LeBrun says she immediately went to school and reported the incident.
“She took appropriate action,” says LeBrun.
Other nearby residents told News 12 that similar incidents have happened before. The girl’s mother says a similar incident happened to her daughter last year, as well.
Police say children should “do anything they need to do” to get away from somebody who is luring them.
Police say the man they are looking for was a black male in his mid-30s, approximately 180 pounds with a dark complexion, dark hair and braids.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
