Thousands of students march around the country to mail college applications

Thousands of students from 27 high schools across the country marched Friday to mail their college applications-- celebrating the end of a stressful process and the beginning of a new chapter in their education.
"I applied around 15 schools, more privates than SUNYs but I got accepted to Brandeis University like two weeks ago," said high school senior Jim Kelly Percine.
Friday was a celebration of months of hard work. High school seniors in the city and all over the country marched from their schools to mail the last pieces of their college applications.
Local students said they overcame some of their challenges with the help of the NYC Outward Bound Schools program.
Since most of the applications are submitted online, some students chose to send a thank you letter to their mentors instead. "I wrote a letter to my mentor, Margaret Kearney. And she's been really great because she's been really good at emotional support and academic support in general. I wouldn't be where I am today without her," said high school Senior Gabriella Babskiy.
