Sources say a 16-year-old girl who was believed to have been kidnapped in the Bronx Monday night staged the incident with her boyfriend.

Sources say Karol Sanchez was walking with her mother and texting her boyfriend on Eagle Avenue and East 156th Street just before she was grabbed by two men and dragged inside a car.

Police say her mother was pushed to the ground before the car drove off with the teen inside.

According to News 12 sources, Karol's boyfriend's friends "kidnapped" her and they took her to her boyfriend's house. They say she stayed over there Monday night.

Police have not yet confirmed that the incident was a hoax.
