Hundreds of kids in Bedford-Stuyvesant received toys, snacks and jackets at a star-studded toy drive Sunday.
The line stretched down the block as families waited to get their toys, and coats, and most of all, to meet the superstar behind the event: Papoose.
The Brooklyn rapper met with his fans, took photos, gave out hugs and handed out holiday gifts like board games, scooters, plush toys and more.
"It's amazing when you come back and you realize how far you've made it but you gotta remmeber to come back and give back," Papoose says. "That's the most important part because that will inspire other kids that are growing up to do the same."
The fans also received warm winter coats and snacks. Toy company Hasbro donated the toys and the event was also sponsored by Daniels Leather NYC and POWherFul Apparel.
The event was held at the Heads Up Barber Shop which was temporarily transformed into Santa's factory.
Children who received the gifts say it encourages them to give back to their community.
"We also give out stuff to the community and the homeless people," says Erica Purcell, of Bed-Stuy.
Papoose emphasized the importance of giving back with positivity, inspiration and making sure every family has gifts under their tree. He said many of the plush toys were donated by his 1-year-old daughter with Remy Ma. Papoose also said she received many gifts and love that she followed in her father's footsteps and gave back to other children.
