Family members were seen as early as 3 p.m. paying their respects to Pimentel.

Police say Pimentel was stabbed in the heart on Dec. 21 inside an apartment building on University Avenue. This incident left Pimentel brain dead.

His family took him off life support on Friday.

Police have released a surveillance video of a man they believe was carrying the knife that killed Pimentel. According to a witness statement, the stabber yelled something in Spanish--"Popote"--a known Trinitarios gang phrase.

Pimentel's mother Awilda Gomez tells News 12 she's "all over the place. There's no way to actually tell you how— I'm heartbroken I'm just being really, really strong right now."

Gomez is begging anyone who knows anything about her son's killer to please contact the police. Pimentel will be laid to rest on Friday at St. Raymond's Cemetery.

Police tell News 12 there is no update on the investigation at this time.
