The Bronx comes together to support Puerto Rico after earthquakes

Posted: Updated:

Residents in the Bronx came together to help Puerto Rico after the recent string of earthquakes that hit the island.

Many in the borough say it hurts to see images of the heavy damage left behind on some parts of the island as hundreds are left without power.

Pastors and city officials gathered at Rev. Ruben Diaz Sr.’s office to call local mayors on the island to understand what the conditions are like.

The 6.4 magnitude quake struck Puerto Rico just hours after a 5.8 quake hit on Monday.

News 12 is told Tuesday morning's earthquake is the largest in a series that have shaken the United States territory in recent days, causing heavy damage in some areas.

A mayor from Puerto Rico says the city of Guayanilla and Yauco were badly hit.

News 12 is told a concert at Lehman College is in the works, as well as a rescue mission marathon in the Bronx.
