Police: 52-year-old man shot during attempted carjacking in Baychester

Police say a man was shot in his leg during an attempted carjacking in Baychester Tuesday night.

The shooting happened as the Bay Plaza Mall stores were closing at 9 p.m.

The victim was captured on video being tended to in the back of an ambulance.

Detectives at the scene secured bullet casings right next to the white Buick that appears to have been involved in the attempted carjacking.

The fire department says the 52-year-old victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center and is expected to survive.

It is unclear if there were any passengers in the victim’s car.

Police say they are now looking for two suspects.
