A couple is desperate to return home after a fire caused damage to their Belmont apartment.
It’s been over a week since a fire damaged Kevin and Judith Crummel’s home and they say they are still waiting for holes to get patched up.

"The supervisor is not doing anything about it. We call them, and they just tell us to call back. They keep telling us an inspection needs to happen,” says Kevin Crummel.

A fire broke out Saturday, Jan. 4 on the fourth floor of the five-story building, leaving several apartments with water damage, including the Crummels'.

"I'm worried about if we have to stay here and the walls cave in, and now that's another problem and my husband has a really rare disease that he can't be in the house," says Judith Crummel.

News 12 called the management company Park, LLC. After several attempts to get an answer to when workers will repair the apartment, the supervisor kept insisting she had no comment.

"It’s very frustrating, and this is my apartment and I'm paying rent. Why should I have to pay rent if I can't even live here and it ruined all my stuff?” asks Judith Crummel.

The Red Cross was able to help the couple get a hotel for four days, but now they feel their only option is to wait for repairs.

"When we stayed at my grandmother's house, it was painful because we had to sleep on the floor. We woke up with our backs killing us,” says Kevin Crummel.

The Crummels have been living in the first-floor apartment for five years and say they do not want to give it up.

"They tell us to call Section 8. If I get them involved, they most likely will cut the rent and I'm thinking we will have to move out and I really like this apartment,” says Judith.
