Report: East 161st Street outside Yankee Stadium to become Jeter Street

A Yankee icon that could soon be headed to the Baseball Hall of Fame may get an honor in the Bronx.
According to am New York, East 161st Street outside Yankee Stadium could soon be renamed Jeter Street after all-time great Derek Jeter.
If the renaming does come to fruition, Jeter Street would intersect Rivera Avenue, which was renamed in honor of his fellow member of the "core four" Mariano Rivera.
MLB's expected announcement that he will be elected to the Hall of Fame will be revealed next Tuesday.
Am New York says Councilwomen Vanessa Gibson and Diana Ayala are expected to introduce the bill to rename the street and its passage is said to be a formality.
