Riverdale schools come together to celebrate diversity, unity in honor of MLK

Two local schools came together Thursday as students continue to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Eighth graders from SAR Academy and students from Atmosphere Academy participated in a program meant to help understand each other and build a bridge between cultures and different beliefs.
The students were divided into groups where they were given a chance to speak openly about hate and intolerance between different communities.
At the center of the program is the teachings from civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The principal of SAR Academy tells News 12 the event is all about building relationships between students.

Organizers say they are looking to create more programs like this one throughout the year, hoping students will one day make a positive impact in the world.
