A resident in Co-op City says days have gone by since a radiator exploded and flooded her apartment.
Thyra Alleyne said the management company has done nothing to repair the damages in the aftermath of the incident.
"When I opened the door, I heard this loud bang, and when I looked, I thought it was blood on the door running down like a river running down," Alleyne said while talking with a lawyer on the phone about the state of her apartment.
On Sunday, she told News 12 her apartment flooded after her radiator malfunctioned, but at first, she didn't know what was going on.
"I started screaming and running, the water ran right down the hallway and I ran to my relatives that live next door," Alleyne said. "It was a lot a lot of water, I thought I was going to drown."
The radiator is now back up and running, but the water damage is evident. Her shoes, some books, the living room rug, her computer and some furniture sustained damage as well.
"All my furniture is ruined, and they don't care. They just care about them," Alleyne said.
Alleyne said she called Riverbay Corporation, the management company, which then came out on Monday to take a look at her apartment. Since then, Alleyne said no action has been taken.
"I pay my rent every month, I don't owe them anything, and I don't think it is good what they did to me," Alleyne said.
She said the Riverbay Corporation told her they will come around Feb. 10 to begin repairs.
News 12 reached out to Riverbay Corporation and is waiting to hear back.
