Joan Cantave, a Co-op City woman who had gone missing, has been found at a city hospital.
A news release stated that Cantave’s family is grateful for all those who showed support and for Councilman Andy King, who gathered with the family earlier Monday to get the word out about her.

Police had told News 12 that she had last been seen in her apartment building at 100 De Kruif Place on Friday.

“It’s wintertime,” King said. “The weather is cold. While she may have some health conditions, most of the time she is sharp, so that’s why it’s that much more devastating for us and her family here in the 12th District that one of our seniors have gone missing.”

Friends and family posted signs of Cantave’s face in efforts to learn her whereabouts. In tears, Deanita Redwood pleaded for the community and the state to help search for her grandmother.

“I’m asking for the community to come together to help find her,” said Redwood. “I’m also asking for New York to advocate for change. We can receive a package in an hour but can’t find out about our lost citizens?”
