Police are searching for a trio behind a series of robberies in Williamsbridge.
News 12 is told three men walked into a bodega on East 222 Street last weekend around midnight and threatened an employee with a gun.
Surveillance video shows three men police believe are responsible. They say the trio tied up the 39-year-old employee with a cable inside the bodega, and then stole the victim’s wallet and more than $800 from the register.
"The first guy came in asking me something and I grabbed it and put it in the counter and he pulled out a gun and pointed it at me. Tells me put your hands up and they all come in," the victim told News 12.
According to authorities, this team is linked to three other robberies. The first reported hit was in the same neighborhood on Dec. 22, where a 55-year-old victim says he was walking home from the subway along East 224 Street when three men ambushed him and acted like they had a gun.
He says they then started to punch and kick him to the group before fleeing with his cellphone.
Officials say six days later, the trio attacked a 56-year-old in a similar way. Investigators say the victim was waiting for a taxi near White Plains Road and East 215 Street when three men beat him up and ran off with his cellphone.
The third incident happened at the bodega on East 222nd Street. News 12 is told the trio pulled out a gun on a 31-year-old man in front of the deli and demanded money. The victim handed over $100.
Police say two of the victims were treated for cuts on their head.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
