Students gathered in Downtown Brooklyn for the 54th annual Greater New York Scholastic Chess Championship Sunday.
The weekend event brought together kids from kindergarten to the 12th grade to the Marriot Hotel for a game of chess. About 1,600 students competed for the championship titles.
The tournament is designed for kids of all skill levels to compete against each other and the team with the highest score wins the championship.
Organizers say the event has grown over the past few years, and they hope it will continue to get bigger and better.
