Bronx bodega worker signs with management team after math deli challenge

Posted: Updated:

A Bronx bodega worker has been verified on social media and has signed with a management team as a content creator after his TikTok challenge went viral.

The challenge is simple, if a customer gets a math problem correct inside Lucky Candy bodega, they have five seconds to grab whatever they want for free.

"They come to the store, they say I see you on the news. I've been coming to the store a long time, I’ve got to be a part of this," said Ahmed Alwan.

He has also started a GoFundMe page to raise money to give to the homeless.

He says his effort comes in light of helping the community and also to promote education. The giveaways come out of his paycheck, which has cost him about $400 so far.

Alwan says the job is not easy, but that his challenge every day is to spread cheer. He says that when he is not at the bodega, he is pursuing a career as a Pharmacy Tech.
