The man accused of killing a Williamsbridge bodega worker appeared in court Friday.
Adrien Topping is accused of pulling a gun on Mohammed Quitash last Tuesday. Topping's lawyer says that despite what the court paperwork says, her client is only 18 years old. However, according to the police, the defendant is 28.
Topping is currently being held at a faculty for adults. His lawyer has requested that due to his age, he be moved to a holding cell with children 18 and younger.
The judge asked that proper paperwork to prove his age be presented, but approved the request to move him.
Topping is being charged with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
Quitash's father says he just wants Topping to go to jail.
The case has been adjourned and Topping is due back in court on Feb. 24.
