NYPD: 26-year-old man dies in Bath Beach hit-and-run

Police are searching for a driver who struck and killed a Sunset Park man in Bath Beach Sunday.
Police says 26-year-old Jose Contla was struck on 19th Avenue between 86th Street and Benson Avenue around 7:30 a.m.
The NYPD released surveillance video showing the victim walking alongside his vehicle when he was struck by the driver in a black sedan, who was headed southbound on 19th Avenue.
News 12 is told the driver never stopped and continued southbound. Police say Contla was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Marisol Contla says she is in disbelief over the death of her 26-year-old husband.

"He told me to lock the door. He gave me a goodbye kiss as always. He always kiss my forehead and then he left,” she says.

Candles are now next to his car on 19th Avenue.
His widow tells News 12 he worked at a bakery right on the corner of 86th Street and 19th Avenue for the last eight years, and was on his way there at the time.
The NYPD is asking anyone with information to contact them.
