Manhattan woman confirmed as 1st case of coronavirus in New York

New York state has confirmed its first case of the coronavirus.

New York state has confirmed its first case of the coronavirus.
The New York Department of Health tells News 12 the patient is a Manhattan woman in her 30s who recently traveled to Iran.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo are expected to address the public later today with more details about the case.

The city's health commissioner tweeted saying, "While we hoped this moment wouldn't come, it was something we prepared for. Our disease detectives have already identified close contacts to the patient, who may have been exposed, and will take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of covid19."
Health officials say the patient is one of 10 who have been tested for the coronavirus so far. They say eight people have been found negative and the test results of one other patient is currently pending. All but one are New York City residents.
