Neighbors in Williamsbridge say they are outraged after learning a drug treatment facility bought a vacant building in their area -- a move they had been fighting for months.

Neighbors in Williamsbridge say they are outraged after learning a drug treatment facility bought a vacant building in their area -- a move they had been fighting for months.
The vacant lot at 2500 Williamsbridge Road was sold to Carnegie Hill Institute, a substance abuse treatment center.
Residents say it is not a safe location, since it is across the street from P.S. 89 and a few blocks away from St. Lucy's Catholic School.
They also say they're concerned since there is a house of worship across the street.
In a statement, Councilman Mark Gjonaj said his opposition to the location being used as a drug treatment facility remains firm.
Community Board 11 says it will hold a meeting next week to put forward a recommendation to the state. There will also be a rally Saturday.
News 12 reached out to Carnegie Hill Institute for comment but has not heard back
