Fordham University suspended face-to-face classes Monday afternoon and say they will continue the suspension Tuesday.

The university says that over the weekend a commuter student showed symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and is self-quarantined at home.

They were tested at the school and are waiting on the results.

There have not been any COVID-19 cases reported at the university, and many students tell News 12 they aren't really concerned. Some expressed that they were excited for days off.

Students say they were expecting the spread of the virus and that is wasn't a matter of if they would be affected but rather when. Some parents told News 12 their tuition money is going to waste because of the suspension.

It is unclear if the days will be made up at the end of the year, but the school is encouraging all resident students to go home.

 

Home games are still on, but will be closed to spectators. On Wednesday, faculty will teach their classes online or electronically.
