Department of Corrections reports case of COVID-19 at Rikers Island

The Department of Corrections has confirmed the first case of the coronavirus among the inmate population at Rikers Island.

News 12 is told the inmate has been removed from the general population and is being closely monitored by correctional health services.

At this time, the DOC is working to identify and notify anyone who may have been in close contact with the inmate.
