A community center food pantry will now open five days a week to help hospital workers, first responders and residents during the coronavirus pandemic.
Organizers of Mosholu Montefiore Community Center say the need in this community has almost doubled as a result of the coronavirus.
The MMCC is located near both the NYC Health + Hospitals/North Center Bronx and Montefiore Medical Center. It says it is accommodating the medical staff at both hospitals who have been working to care for coronavirus patients.
Administrators say as the number of coronavirus cases increases, so does the need. They say more working families are asking for help.
The center says it is also providing free child care services for first responders and medical staff.
