New York City and T-Mobile have announced a $5 million investment to supply seniors in NYCHA housing free tablets and internet service to connect with loved ones while quarantined.

NYC, T-mobile announce $5 million investment to bring internet, tablets to NYCHA seniors
New York City and T-Mobile have announced a $5 million investment to supply seniors in NYCHA housing free tablets and internet service to connect with loved ones while quarantined.
The mayor announced Wednesday that the investment would bring tablets and internet service to 10,000 NYCHA seniors.

He says there will be easy to use instructions and a hotline with live help. The initiative will start with disconnected seniors in Brownsville, East New York, Mott Haven, Red Hook, Bushwick and Coney Island.
He also addressed an overall extension of help to those in NYCHA buildings.
The mayor says more testing will become available for NYCHA, including six new testing sites with priority to NYCHA residents and other nearby residents with risk factors.
Testing centers opening this Friday will include NYC Health + Hospitals/Cumberland Health Center in Crown Heights, Belvis Health Center in Mott Haven and Gouverneur Health Center on the Lower East Side.
NYCHA testing sites opening next week include Jonathan Williams Houses in Williamsburg, Woodside Houses in Woodside and St. Nicholas Houses in Harlem.
In addition to testing, face coverings and gloves with also be distributed to NYCHA residents. The free door-to-door meal distributions will also be extended to all NYCHA senior citizens.
The mayor says personal hand sanitizer will also be distributed to thousands of NYCHA seniors.
Mayor de Blasio also addressed Fourth of July celebrations and what he thinks New York City will do to commemorate the holiday while keeping New Yorkers safe. He says he is in contact with Macy’s and is working on a different and safe way to celebrate the Fourth of July.
