Michael Abramovshcik is a Brooklyn-based musician and performer, who is an active member of a social club founded by his wife called Club Aelita. It aims to combat loneliness and isolation, particularly among the elderly.
The sidewalk concert is just one of several ways the couple has been trying to help those who may be feeling scared and unprotected. He says hearing a familiar, positive song can be a game-changer.
Their most recent project took them up to Bear Mountain State Park, where Abramovshcik is set up his equipment near a walking trail to turn people's quarantine walk into a musical experience.
He says they can't wait to host concerts and festivals once the pandemic is over.
