MTA bus driver suffers medical episode behind wheel, crashes into parked cars in Brownsville

A crash involving an MTA bus in Brownsville is under investigation as officials believe the driver suffered from a medical episode.

A crash involving an MTA bus in Brownsville is under investigation as officials believe the driver suffered from a medical episode.
Police were called to the scene just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to the intersection of East New York Avenue between Rockaway Parkway and East 98th Street.
Police tell News 12 the 42-year-old driver of a B12 bus was driving eastbound on East New York Avenue when he had a medical episode and jumped the curb, hit some small trees, a light post and several parked cars.
Investigators tell News 12 that five people, including two pedestrians and people inside some of the cars were taken to the hospital but are all expected to survive. News 12 is told at least one passenger on the bus was also taken to the hospital.
As for the bus driver, officials say he is in stable condition and is not expected to be charged with anything.
