Massive 2-alarm fire in the Bronx damages stores

A two-alarm fire in the Bronx severely damaged three stores and gutted a fourth business Monday.
The fire started sometime after 5 a.m. on Allerton Avenue and spread to an adjacent liquor store, subway restaurant, a discount outlet, and a beauty supply shop where investigators believe the fire started.
The state’s fire marshals, the FDNY’s Arson and Explosion Squad, and the NYPD converged on the fire.
Hours later, the fire continued to gather spectators who say they can’t help but wonder if the fire is connected to recent violence in the city.
