Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday that New York City’s curfew will be extended through the week.

He says the 8 p.m. to 5 p.m. curfew will be in effect through June 7.

He called on community leaders to help enforce the stop of violence and looting.

He says he and the NYPD will not stand for the looting, and says he spent most of his night in the Bronx Monday.

The mayor says both he and the commissioner support protesters, but will not tolerate violence.

Nearly 700 arrests were made Monday night, according to Commissioner Shea.

Despite the recent violence across New York City, he is hopeful New Yonkers will stick together to keep the city healthy.

He says there is still a focus on COVID-19 safety, as New York City prepares for its June 8 phase one opening.
