East New York home extensively damaged in early morning fire

An investigation is underway after a fire broke out in East New York early this morning.
Crews responded to intense flames and heavy smoke coming from the home on 734 Alabama Ave. around 3:15 a.m.
Flames took about an hour and a half to get under control. The fire caused extensive damage, and crews were still seen cleaning up hours later.
LaShawn Charles lives down the street, but says she rushed over right after that call to help her friends.
“I looked out the window, there was some redness, they were blocked off, she said they had to wake everybody up and couldn’t come out the door. They had to go around,” says Charles.
The cause is under investigation.
Crews say no one was hurt.
