A rally was held in Downtown Brooklyn Wednesday calling for a Brooklyn court officer to be fired after allegedly posting a racist photo on social media.
Activists say Sgt. Terri Pinto Napolitano posted a photo of former President Barack Obama hanging from a noose on Facebook and another of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
She has been suspended for 30 days without pay and her gun was taken, but some say that is not enough.
In a statement, a spokesperson from the Office of Court Administration said, "The clearly racist, ignorant and hurtful Facebook posts by this sergeant do not represent the thoughts and beliefs of Unified Court System and its employees including its 4,000 New York State Court Officers."
The inspector general has opened an investigation regarding the posts and the administration has plans to review what further disciplinary action may be warranted.
News 12 reached out to the sergeant but has not heard back.
