A man was shot early this morning on the platform of the Simpson Street subway station, police say.

The incident happened at about 6:30 a.m. at the subway stop right off Westchester Avenue.

Two men were arguing while on the platform, and one of the men eventually fired a gun at the other, authorities say.

The victim was taken to the hospital, and the gunman fled before police arrived.

A resident in the area says the Simpson Street station has had other close calls with gun violence.

The victim is in stable condition, and is being questioned by authorities about how the argument started and who the suspect is.
