Activists came out to Barclays Center to fight for the rights of the black transgender community.

Protesters say black transgender people face additional hardships like persecution, racism and discrimination.

A large protest was also held Sunday for Black Trans Lives Matter.

The movement has come at a time when other protests have been going on after the restrained death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

The community was happy to see the Supreme Court reject President Donald Trump's rule to roll back protections for transgender people seeking health care, but they say more needs to be done.

Misha Koleci, who organized the event, says that institutions like the school and health care systems have done nothing but bring down transgender people, black people and marginalized groups.

"It's not done, and it won't be done for a very long time, a very long time," said Koleci. 

The annual pride parade has been canceled due to the pandemic, but activists say that won't stop them from coming out to fight for their rights.
