Police are investigating an apparent uptick in gun violence across the city over the past week.
From Monday through Sunday, there has been a total of 51 shooting incidents, according to an NYPD spokesperson. And from midnight through about noon Sunday, there have been 18 shooting incidents, with 24 victims.
At least three shootings were reported overnight across Brooklyn and the Bronx.
Police tell News 12 that a 22-year-old man was shot in Morris Heights at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday after getting into a fight with another man.
The incident happened on Jerome and West Burnside avenues. The victim was treated at St. Barnabas Hospital and is expected to recover.
Police tell News 12 that three other people were shot in Brownsville and one in Clinton Hill Saturday night.
From Friday night to Saturday, there were 15 shootings.
From Monday through Thursday, there were 25 shootings. The same period last year saw only six shootings.
Police say no one was killed in Saturday night's attacks.
The NYPD also tells News 12 that they don't believe any of the incidences are related but they are still investigating each shooting. They also say they are looking into what is causing the uptick in gun violence.
