Police are searching for a suspect in the shooting of an 11-year-old boy Tuesday night.
Police say a driver passed by and shot the 11-year-old twice while he was playing outside.
A group gathered Thursday and protested against senseless gun violence. The boy's grandfather says the child was playing outside a few feet away from his home when someone drove by and shot him once in the leg and again in his behind.
He’s expected to make a full recovery, and police confirm the boy was not the intended target of the suspect who drove away in their car.
Community members say the incident is unacceptable, especially since it involved a child.
Posters were seen at a rally Thursday at East 29th Street and Avenue D, offering a reward for anyone who calls the NYPD with information about the shooter.
