Customers and former staff of a closed Brooklyn bowling alley says they are owed thousands of dollars.
A group of bowlers say they reached out to the owners of Shell Lanes hundreds of times trying to get information about retrieving their equipment that's stored inside the establishment and money they are owed.
Many of the bowlers say the alley owes them approximately $400,000 between membership funds that were collected and league prize funds that were never paid out to members.
After numerous attempts to get in touch with the owner, customers say they still haven't heard back. Former employees, who are now out of jobs, say they can’t get into touch with the owner either.
The bowlers took matters into their own hands and met with a lawyer associated with the league outside Shell Lanes Thursday night.
The lawyer told the members and former employees that an injunction was placed on the property May 1, ordering the owner to hand over the keys to the bowling alley to all shareholders.
Bowlers say they want the owners of Shell Lanes to give everyone their equipment, prize money and membership fees.
News 12 reached out to the attorney representing the owner of Shell Lanes but has not heard back yet.
