Police: Man sought for questioning in deadly shooting of Bronx high school basketball player

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man they want to question in connection to the fatal shooting of a Bronx high school basketball player in Morris Heights.
It has been nearly a week since 17-year-old Brandon Hendricks was shot in the neck while attending a birthday celebration with friends.
Police say they want to question 22-year-old Najhim Luke. They say he has brown eyes and is about 6-feet tall and 140 pounds.
They say Hendricks, a recent James Monroe High School graduate, was gunned down at 176th Street and Davidson Avenue last Sunday night.
Those who knew Hendricks say he was a role model on and off the court.
"Brandon told us early that he wanted to be a role model,” says Noel Ellison, Hendricks’ uncle. “Even though he only made it to 17, he was a role model from what all of our children tell us.”
Ellison and Hendricks’ mother attended a rally at the National Action Network's House of Justice in Harlem Saturday.
Members of the NAN’s Youth Huddle presented a check to Hendricks' family for $1,000 to help cover funeral costs.
"They want to help make sure this family does not have to struggle to bury their son with dignity," says Rev. Al Sharpton, the founder and president of the NAN.
Detectives say the motive for the shooting is still unclear.
Police have not made any arrests in the case.
