More than 100 people gathered in Bed-Stuy Saturday to stand up against violence during a Cease Fire Peace March.
Over the past few weeks, there has been seen a spike in violence across the boroughs. Saturday's march represented the anti-violence movement and a push toward safer streets.
The Taj Gibson Foundation organized the event, with participants of all ages marching peacefully from Broadway Junction to the Black Lives Matter mural on Fulton Avenue in Bed-Stuy.
Police officers and members of the community united to speak out for the communities of color that are facing surges in gun violence in recent weeks.
Organizers say it's time to make sure their voices are heard and for neighborhoods across the five boroughs to come together on an issue that they all agree with – that the violence needs to end.
