Student walkout in Castle Hill pays tribute to Parkland victims
Students at Castle Hill Middle School honored the lives lost to gun violence and demanded stricter gun regulations during a school walkout.
The students walked out of class for 18 minutes – one minute for each of the victims who died last year at Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School in Parkland, Florida. An extra minute was added on for others who have been lost to gun violence.
The event coincided with last year’s walkout. It was organized by the school’s seventh-grade class.
"We haven't even learned Earth science yet and we're already writing speeches about gun violence, and that's not healthy," one student told News 12.
